Historical facts

1985

  • Zetes enters the auto ID industry, partnering with industry leaders such as Symbol Technologies (barcode scanners) and Zebra Technologies (printers).

1987

  • Zetes deploys its first major automatic identification solution involving barcoding at Colruyt, one of Belgium’s largest retailers.

1990

  • Zetes starts large deployment of point of sale scanning system at Inno (Belgian store chain) and in the European hub of DHL at Brussels Airport.

1993

  • Zetes starts to gain recognition outside Belgium with international references: Alcatel, Thomson, Yves Rocher. 

1997

  • Zetes becomes one of the first system integrators to implement successful RFID projects in Europe. 

1998

  • Zetes makes its first international acquisition following its strategic decision to become a European leader in the Goods ID market.

1999

  • Zetes enters the People ID market with smart card production and personalisation for e-ID applications.

2002

  • Zetes wins prime contract for Belgian e-ID cards.

2005

  • Zetes wins UN contract for 10,000 voters’ biometric registration kits in the Domestic Republic of Congo (DRC).
  • Zetes sells its distribution activity.
  • Zetes becomes N°1 European vendor of voice-directed systems from Vocollect.
  • Zetes goes public IPO (Euronext Brussels: ZTS) and generates € 30 million.
  • Zetes opens new subsidiary in Italy.

2006

  • Zetes opens new subsidiary in Israel.
  • Zetes completes major acquisition of Peak Technologies’ European subsidiaries, with new or additional offices in the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland, also improving its range of solutions for the Manufacturing and Retail sectors.
  • Zetes services over 50% of European Voice Market in 2006, with more than 5,000 new users in one year.

2007

  • Zetes supplies customised e-ID middleware solution for the national citizen ID card project in Portugal, the second large, nation-wide e-ID project in Europe.
  • The government of Togo appoints Zetes as sole operator for the biometric registration of its voters.
  • Zetes opens new subsidiary in the Nordic countries
